Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan has shared the sad news of his father’s passing, posting a touching tribute on social media.
The former Black Stars captain shared the news with a message thanking his father for always supporting him, both in life and throughout his football career.
“I’m happy you saw my greatness, Dad. Thank you for taking care of us. You will forever be in our hearts. R.I.P. (ASASE J).”
Gyan did not share the cause of his father’s death, but his tribute led to many condolences from fellow footballers, fans, and well-wishers on social media.
Gyan is one of Ghana’s most celebrated footballers, with a career of over twenty years. He is still the Black Stars’ top scorer and played for Ghana in several Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cups.
His father supported him from his early football days through his rise as one of Africa’s top players.
