The Ghana Professional Boxing League begins on July 13

The third season of the Ghana Professional Boxing League will commence on July 13, 2024, and conclude on April 19, 2025.

The league will feature 20 biweekly fight nights with different boxing gyms, sponsored by Bel 7 Star Energy Drink, and will offer a Renault saloon as the grand prize.

New twists

Furthermore, IMAX Promotions will reveal a few exciting surprises for this edition before the league season begins next week.

Alhaji Fadi Fatal, the Director of Operations of IMAX Promotions, expressed the company’s dedication to supporting and promoting boxing in Ghana in collaboration with the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA).

He mentioned that IMAX Boxing Promotions had gained recognition as the highest-recorded single boxing promoter on the continent, with 280 thrilling fights produced in the past two league seasons.

“The Ghana Boxing Authority and IMAX Boxing Promotions invested over GH¢10 million into developing boxing in our nation during the last two seasons of the Ghana Boxing League,” he stated, acknowledging their vital support.

Alhaji Fatal encouraged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government to keep backing initiatives like the boxing league “for the advancement of sports and youth development in the nation.”

He expressed his appreciation to Abraham Kotey Neequaye, the President of the GBA. He also extended his gratitude to Jihad Hijazi of Premium Motors and Maxwell Tachie, Chairman of IMAX Promotions, for their efforts in advancing and supporting boxing in the country.

Successful competition

The GBA President, Mr. Neequaye, conveyed his outfit’s readiness for the new season and guaranteed a prosperous competition.

“On July 13, we will begin the 2024 league. The teams are set, and we will have an excellent boxing event. Boxing was once the most popular sport, and we still consider it the best because we have 12 world champions to boast of.”

To prevent unjust profiting, the GBA boss encouraged the Ghana Army to sign contracts with their boxers and reap the financial benefits of their investments.
