Following his appointment as England manager, Thomas Tuchel is dedicated to working towards his dream of winning the 2026 World Cup.
The next Three Lions boss, German Tuchel, age 51, will start his 18-month contract on 1 January after his confirmation on Wednesday.
Tuchel said he was “sorry I have a German passport” after becoming only the third non-British permanent manager of the England men’s team.
The Champions League winner also mentioned that he was initially hesitant about transitioning from club to international football, but he expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with a “remarkable and thrilling” group of players.
Tuchel has been responsible for guiding England’s men to the 2026 World Cup, hoping to end a 60-year wait for a major trophy.
Gareth Southgate stepped down as England coach after leading the team for eight years following their defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
“I understood very quickly that it is a big job. I think the job you are in is always the biggest, and it makes no sense to compare it, but it feels big and like a privilege,” Tuchel said at a media conference at Wembley on Wednesday afternoon.
“I think it is pretty obvious I am very emotional. I love what I am doing and am passionate about football.
“This role just brought the young me alive and brought back my teenage days, to get excited for such a big task.
“Everyone can be assured we will do it with passion and emotions. We will install values, principles, and rules as quickly as possible to make the dream come true.”
