Chelsea and Man Utd suffer blow over hopes of signing Kyle Walker-Peters

Chelsea and Manchester United have been warned that Kyle Walker-Peters is happy at Southampton and that ‘it would take a lot of money’ to sign him.

The Saints right-back is attracting the attention of a string of big clubs with United, Chelsea and former side Tottenham all considering a move for him.

The 26-year-old remains under contract with the Championship side until the summer of 2025 so his club are in no direct pressure to sell him, but it had been reported that the England international was keen on making a move.

Southampton boss Russell Martin has appeared to deny those rumours, though, insisting that Walker-Peters has shown no indication over a desire to depart.

‘I spoke to Kyle,’ Martin told BBC Radio Solent. ‘I also know his agent really well. There’s been no conversation at all about him wanting to leave.

‘He’s in such a good place. I think he’s enjoying himself. It would take a lot of money to prise him away.’

Walker-Peters has been a regular in the Southampton side since completing a permanent move from Spurs in 2020.

He has made a total of 147 appearances for Southampton to date, registering five goals and nine assists.

Walker-Peters stuck with the south coast club after they were relegated from the top-flight last term.

Southampton are currently third in the second tier of English football as they look to return to the Premier League at the first possible opportunity.
