Former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has reportedly lodged a complaint with FIFA against the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over outstanding payments following the termination of his contract in March 2026.
According to reports, Addo is seeking more than $750,000 in unpaid salaries, bonuses and other contractual benefits after efforts to recover the funds from the GFA proved unsuccessful.
Joy Sports journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai reports that the former Ghana coach is claiming around 15 months’ worth of unpaid wages in addition to other benefits outlined in his contract.
The dispute follows the GFA’s decision to end Addo’s second spell in charge of the national team after a disappointing set of results during the March international window.
The association announced his departure on March 31, 2026, shortly after Ghana suffered back-to-back defeats in friendly matches, losing 5-1 to Austria in Vienna before a 2-1 defeat to Germany in Stuttgart.
Those results extended the Black Stars’ losing run to four matches and ultimately led to Addo’s dismissal just over two months before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 50-year-old returned for a second stint as Ghana coach in March 2024, having previously managed the Black Stars between 2022 and 2023.
Reports indicate that Addo earned $50,000 per month under his agreement with the GFA, meaning 15 months of unpaid salaries alone would total $750,000, excluding performance bonuses and other contractual entitlements.
The GFA is yet to issue an official response to the reported FIFA complaint or clarify its position regarding the alleged outstanding payments.
