Ange Postecoglou is the new head coach of Al Nassr, the Saudi Pro League champions, and will now manage Cristiano Ronaldo.
This is Postecoglou’s first job since his short time at Nottingham Forest, which ended in October after only 39 days.
Al Nassr announced on social media that Postecoglou has signed a two-year contract.
The Riyadh-based club won the Saudi Pro League title last season, their first since Ronaldo’s high-profile arrival in 2023. Jorge Jesus led the team to the championship but left after his one-year contract ended.
Portugal’s head coach Roberto Martínez, who is currently working with Ronaldo at the FIFA World Cup, was also linked to the job.
Postecoglou brings a strong track record. He led Tottenham Hotspur to the UEFA Europa League title in May 2025 before leaving the next month. At Celtic, he won five trophies in two seasons, including a domestic treble.
At 59, Postecoglou was also considered a top candidate to replace Steve Clarke as Scotland manager before choosing to move to Saudi Arabia.
Al Nassr shared the following statement on X:
“A new chapter. Mr Ange Postecoglou is the coach of the first football team at Al-Nassr Club, with a contract that extends for 2 seasons.
“Our best wishes for success”Our best wishes for success to him and his staff in their journey with the global club.”He will work with a star-studded squad that includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané, Kingsley Coman, and João Félix as he looks to build on the club’s recent domestic success.
