Gyan steps into coaching spotlight during club training exercise

Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has hinted at his coaching ambitions after leading a training session at Greater Accra Division Three Side Great Somas FC.

The ex-Sunderland and Al Ain striker, who has a UEFA B coaching license, stopped the session for a moment to give tactical advice and help with technique.

Gyan was allowed to lead the team’s training at Accra Academy School Park, where he actively participated in running the session.

Sammy Anim Addo, the club’s co-owner, Executive Chairman, and Gyan’s long-time manager, later shared a video of the moment on social media. This sparked talk about the 39-year-old possibly moving into coaching.

Posting on X, Anim Addo wrote: “My coach, your coach, our coach @ASAMOAH_GYAN3 just started. The world can’t wait. Save this message and come back to me when he hits the ground running… just watch this space.”

Gyan, Ghana’s top scorer of all time, seems to be starting his journey into coaching as he moves on from his successful playing career.

He is now the co-owner, Honorary President, and Lifetime Technical Director of the Great Somas Soccer Academy.
