Bryant University and GFA deepen strategic partnership ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup

Senior officials from Bryant University, which will serve as the base camp for Ghana’s national team, visited the Ghana Football Association as preparations ramp up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The group, led by Vice President for Athletics and Recreation William Smith, met with GFA leaders on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Association’s headquarters. Both sides demonstrated their commitment to ensuring the Black Stars are well prepared.

GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo welcomed the visitors and emphasized the Association’s goal of building strong international partnerships to improve performance, planning, and operations.

GFA Director of Marketing Jamil Maraby led the discussions, working with representatives from Rhode Island, also known as “The Ocean State.”

The meeting focused on planning the team’s stay, including where they will stay and train in Rhode Island. Bryant University is set to offer excellent facilities, including high-quality training fields, modern recovery centers, and wellness resources to help the team perform at its best.

Senior university officials also attended the meeting, including Edi Tebaldi, Vice President for Strategy and Partnerships, and Liz Tanner, as well as other representatives.

The GFA team included Head of Business Development Janice Odonkor and Senior Communications Manager and Media Attaché Patrick Akoto.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. It will be the biggest tournament yet. Ghana will make its fifth appearance, building on a proud history that includes reaching the quarterfinals in 2010.

The Black Stars are in Group L. They will start against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, then play England on June 23 in Boston, and Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.

This partnership is an important step to help the Black Stars enter the tournament fully prepared, focused, and ready to compete at their best.
