Asante Kotoko’s assistant head coach, Hamza Obeng, has been named interim manager for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
His appointment follows the resignation of Prince Yaw Owusu, who had taken charge, replacing Abdul Karim Zito.
Zito had earlier stepped down after Kotoko’s FA Cup loss to Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Owusu’s tenure was marked by inconsistent performance, leading him to resign. In an official statement, the Kumasi-based club confirmed he submitted his resignation, stating that it was in the team’s best interests.
Kotoko has placed its trust in Obeng, who also manages the club’s youth side, the Young Porcupines, to guide the team through the closing stages of the campaign.
“In the interim, Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng will take charge of the team for the remaining games of the season,” the club stated.
With 29 matches played in the Ghana Premier League, Kotoko currently sit sixth with 43 points as they aim to end the season strongly under new leadership.
