The Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council, working with key partners, has named Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach of the Black Stars.
The experienced tactician, who has previously managed top sides including Real Madrid and Manchester United, as well as national teams such as Portugal and Iran, will lead Ghana into the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Queiroz has plenty of World Cup experience. He helped South Africa qualify for the 2002 tournament, took Portugal to the knockout stages in 2010, and managed Iran at the 2014 and 2018 World Cups.
He has also coached Egypt, Oman, Japan, and Qatar, further enhancing his international experience.
Queiroz is set to start right away as he gets the Black Stars ready for the tournament, which begins on June 11, 2026.
Ghana will play its first match against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, then face England and Croatia in its remaining group games.
