Prince Yaw Owusu, head coach of Asante Kotoko, criticized his players following their defeat to FC Samartex 1996 in Matchday 28 of the Ghana Premier League.
Kotoko lost to the Timber Giants at Baba Yara Stadium in a match delayed by heavy rain. After play resumed, Samartex took control, with Christian Agyenim Boateng scoring first and Emmanuel Essien adding a second. Albert Amoah scored late for Kotoko, but it was only a consolation.
Owusu expressed disappointment after the match, noting that the warning signs were clear beforehand and attributing the loss to his players’ lack of tactical discipline.
The win moves Samartex to sixth place as they pursue a top-four finish. Kotoko remains fourth with 43 points, missing the opportunity to close the gap on leaders Bibiani Gold Stars. Medeama SC and Hearts of Oak are in second and third place, respectively.
