Former Ghana international Samuel Osei Kuffour is reportedly in line to become the new Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko SC.
Reports suggest the former UEFA Champions League winner has been recommended for the position by the club’s incoming Board of Directors.
Kotoko has been without a permanent CEO since Nana Yaw Amponsah left. The club is now run by an Interim Management Committee led by Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, with Kwesi Appiah and Malik Jabir supporting.
A new Board of Directors is expected to take charge before next season. James Osei Brown will chair the board, with Kwasi Osei Ofori as vice-chairman. Kofi Amoa-Abban, founder of Rigworld Group, is also expected to serve as a member.
Once the board officially assumes office, Kuffour is widely expected to be confirmed as the club’s CEO.
Kotoko is also likely to appoint a new head coach ahead of the Ghana Premier League 2026/27 season.
Kuffour’s illustrious playing career saw him shine in Europe with AS Roma and FC Bayern Munich, and he played a pivotal role in Ghana’s historic qualification for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. After his time abroad, he returned home in April 2009 to sign with Asante Kotoko, though he retired later that year without making an official appearance. In August 2013, the former defender was appointed to the club’s board.
