What is meant to be will be – Rasheed Saminu on decision to turn professional

Ghana’s fastest 100m runner, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, is undecided between a professional athletics career and his education.
Currently, at the NCAA D1 East Prelims, South Florida’s Rasheed shattered Ghana’s 100m record.
This year, his 9.86s is the fastest time globally, equaled only by American sprinter Kenny Bednarek.
Communications graduate Rasheed hasn’t decided between a full-time athletic career and further studies.
“I haven’t decided. I recently finished my communication degree. I was pursuing a master’s in entrepreneurship, but regardless, I’m prepared. I’m okay with the pro coming. Otherwise,” he told 3Sports’ Bill Eshun. He added that he will follow his education plan and pursue a master’s degree at the University of South Florida”.
A final decision, the 27-year-old suggested, is coming at the close of the season.
“Only time will tell what tomorrow holds. We can only hope for the best, as everything will be decided by the end of the season. I’m only concentrating on the NCAA next week. That’s my sole focus. We will be ready if the pro appears”.
