Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum leaves Asante Kotoko

Asante Kotoko and Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum have officially split, closing a poignant and dramatic chapter in the history of one of Ghana’s iconic football clubs.
As the Porcupine Warriors struggle in the Ghana Premier League, Ogum, a respected figure known for his strategic skills and calm demeanor, departs.
A string of poor performances, culminating in losses to Accra Lions and Nations FC, led to his departure, effectively ending the club’s title hopes.
Ogum’s legacy remains despite recent setbacks. In his first stint, he led Kotoko to a traditional league victory in 2021/22, reviving memories of their glory days and igniting fan hopes for lasting success.
Although his 2024 comeback generated much excitement, both on and off-field issues prevented the team from ever regaining its prior success.
Kotoko’s season record shows 13 wins, 8 draws, and 7 losses from 28 league matches.
Due to previous inconsistencies, the IMC decided a change of approach was necessary before the crucial MTN FA Cup semi-final against Berekum Chelsea.
It’s sad to see Ogum go, but also exciting. Despite recent disappointing performances for the Red Army fans, his influence on player development, discipline, and club organization is immense.
