In response to perceived reckless journalism, Asante Kotoko SC has announced a complete boycott of Multimedia Group, which includes Asempa FM.
This followed Asempa FM’s harsh criticism of the horrific murder of their supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Pooley.
‘Prof’ E.K Wallace’s program, as stated in Kotoko’s press statement, aimed to protect those involved in the killings and spread false narratives.
The club fiercely criticized the feature, accusing Asempa FM of obstructing law enforcement and compromising professional journalism standards.
By cutting ties with the media organization, Kotoko is making it clear that they will not tolerate the spread of misinformation or slander.
The club’s action was prompted by Asempa FM’s unprofessional conduct, which the club says includes management providing a forum for attacks against Kotoko officials, players, and fans.
Despite acknowledging the media’s importance in sports conversations, Kotoko insisted it wouldn’t use channels that spread lies or disrespect justice.
The boycott intensifies the already strained relationship between Multimedia Group and Kotoko. The club’s fans are protesting the media’s portrayal and demanding justice.
Meanwhile, the clamor for justice for Pooley intensifies as Kotoko pledges an unhindered pursuit of the truth.
