Joseph Paintsil scored in LA Galaxy’s Leagues Cup game against Guadalajara to maintain his fiery streak in the US.
The 26-year-old scored in the 11th minute of a thrilling penalty shootout to advance the MLS team to the round of 32.
Alan Mozo gave Guadalajara the lead after eight minutes, but Paintsil equalized three minutes later with a great attacker.
Gabriel Pec, another LA Galaxy-designated player, gave the Americans the lead with 23 minutes left, but Cade Cowell’s late goal caused penalties.
LA Galaxy defeated Seattle Sounders 5-4 on penalties after Paintsil scored.
The Black Stars winger signed from KRC Genk in February and has since been a fan favorite, scoring nine goals and seven assists in all competitions.
