Ghana winger Joseph Painstil scores as LA Galaxy beat Guadalajara to progress in Leagues’ Cup

Joseph Paintsil scored in LA Galaxy’s Leagues Cup game against Guadalajara to maintain his fiery streak in the US.

The 26-year-old scored in the 11th minute of a thrilling penalty shootout to advance the MLS team to the round of 32.

Alan Mozo gave Guadalajara the lead after eight minutes, but Paintsil equalized three minutes later with a great attacker.

Gabriel Pec, another LA Galaxy-designated player, gave the Americans the lead with 23 minutes left, but Cade Cowell’s late goal caused penalties.

LA Galaxy defeated Seattle Sounders 5-4 on penalties after Paintsil scored.

The Black Stars winger signed from KRC Genk in February and has since been a fan favorite, scoring nine goals and seven assists in all competitions.
