Argentina has advanced to the FIFA U-20 World Cup final, with Mateo Silvetti’s second-half goal against Colombia being the key to their success, a feat they haven’t achieved since 2007.
Argentina defeated Colombia 1-0 in a South American semi-final at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Chile 2025™. Morocco will be their opponent on Sunday, and Colombia will play France on Saturday.
Argentina will face Morocco in the FIFA U-20 World Cup final, thanks to Mateo Silvetti’s stunning second-half goal.
The semi-final game versus Colombia was won with a precise outside-of-the-boot strike by the substitute, after the Colombians were down to ten men.
The match started with both teams being very close, and Colombia’s Juan Arizala had a chance to score in the 42nd minute, but his shot went just wide. The second period, however, began with thrilling action right away.

Argentina’s Tobias Ramirez cleared the ball from Emilio Aristizabal, thanks to Santino Barbi’s block of Jhon Renteria’s shot in the 55th minute. Argentina’s goalie, Barbi, had to act again two minutes later, saving a Juan Arizala header from the top corner.
Gianluca Prestianni set up Silvetti, who scored in the 72nd minute, breaking the tie. A good performance came from Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami colleague.
Colombia’s Renteria was sent off for a foul on Dylan Gorosito while trailing by a goal. Argentina reached the final, a feat not accomplished since 2007.
