FC Red Bull Salzburg has signed Edmund Baidoo from Sogndal IL. The Ghanaian forward, who is 18 years old, has inked a deal that will bind him to the Austrian team until June 30, 2029.
Since moving to Norway from Ghana in March, Baidoo has wasted no time in making a strong impression on European football.
He impressed with nine goals and seven assists in just 22 matches played for Sogndal IL, attracting interest from various clubs until Salzburg signed him.
“We were able to sign a very exciting young player in Edmund Baidoo, who has already impressed in first-team football despite his young age,” said Salzburg’s Sporting Director, Bernhard Seonbuchner.
“He has a good combination of speed and technique. He was involved in lots of goals at his former club, and we are certain that he can show this attribute for us too. We are looking forward to having Edmund, but will give him all the time he needs to settle in.”
Baidoo expressed his excitement about the move, calling it a dream come true. “I am really excited – it’s a dream come true for me. I know FC Red Bull Salzburg and that the club has developed lots of good players over the years. I want to be another one of those that can help the club succeed on its path. I will work hard and do everything for that,” he said.
Salzburg is renowned for nurturing young talent, and Baidoo is anticipated to further his rapid development there.
