Patrick Yaw Boamah: Asante Kotoko must work hard to regain its former grandeur

Okaikwei Central MP Patrick Yaw Boamah criticized Asante Kotoko’s poor performance and urged the club to improve and regain its former glory.
The Ghanaian politician attended the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday afternoon to watch Asante Kotoko defeat Berekum Chelsea.
The Porcupine Warriors won a thrilling match thanks to Daniel Adjetey’s only goal.
Referencing continental rivals like Al Ahly and Orlando Pirates, the shrewd politician claimed Kotoko requires more significant effort to recapture its past success.
“Now, when you mention Memolodi Sundowns, Pirates, Al Ahly, and Zamalek, these are the clubs we (Kotoko) used to play with, which implies we have a lot of work to do as a club to restore Kotoko to its former glory” he told Akoma FM.
“The club has a lot of work to do, we need to develop a lot more talent to bring Kotoko’s glory back to Kumasi”
“It thrills Asante, Kumasi, and the country as a whole because we have fans all over the world, and I believe we cannot play in an empty stadium. The stadium was about 20% filled, which does not reflect the Asante Kotoko we know.”
“So I believe we still have a lot of work to do in terms of attracting the top players, winning more games, returning to Africa, and winning the African trophy”
With 24 matches played, Asante Kotoko leads the Ghana Premier League table, holding 45 points.
