The tournament aims to prepare zonal champions for the Premier League and serve as a preparation platform for other teams before the Division One League season.

With the addition of a trophy, medals, and a cash prize for the winner, the Division One League Super Cup promises to be a thrilling and competitive event that will keep fans on the edge of their seats.

The ten regional football associations will select the best U17 players from the Colts Competitions to compete in the juvenile Championship for their regions.

The Ghana Football Association made a significant sponsorship announcement in October 2021, naming the KGL Foundation as sponsors of the Colts League. The sponsorship, valued at one million USD, will span five years.

Accra hosted the maiden (2021) and 2022 editions, with the 2023 edition being held in Kumasi to maintain regional balance according to the GFA’s policy.

The Fourth Edition of the talent identification event will be held at the Ghanaian Centre of Excellence in Prampram in 2024, bringing the Championship back to the capital.

Over the past four years, the KGL U17 Inter-regional championships have nurtured incredibly talented players, many of whom have gone on to play for Ghana’s Junior National teams or in the domestic leagues. Certain players at these championships have also relocated overseas to further their development at international clubs.
