The Austrian-Ghanaian defender, Kevin Danso, says his childhood self would be surprised he’s a footballer.
Childhood dreams of action stardom, fueled by martial arts heroes Jackie Chan and Jean-Claude Van Damme, were revealed by a Tottenham Hotspur player.
During an interview with Black Sherif, Danso revealed football wasn’t his first love.
“To be honest, I hated football for as long as I can remember, until around seven. I wanted to have a career in acting, especially in action movies.
“I was into karate and things like that. Even when my dad and brother watched football, I found it boring.
“I preferred watching Jackie Chan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and all those action stars. But then, one day, something just clicked, and I realized I like this sport.
“I started as a striker, and from the moment I began playing, I knew this was what I wanted to do. The rest, as they say, is history.”
Danso, whose Ghanaian parents were from Voitsberg, Austria, moved to England at age six. Later, he joined MK Dons’ youth academy and launched his career.
