Asamoah Gyan names his most underestimated Ghanaian teammate

According to Ghanaian football legend Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah is the most underrated player he ever played with.

On TV3’s New Day, Gyan, the ambassador for the upcoming 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship, released a statement.

“Kwadwo Asamoah had a distinguished career. Just look at the clubs he played for Juventus, Udinese, Inter Milan… I think people really slept on him. He’s easily the most underrated Ghanaian player I’ve played with,” Gyan said.

People consider Kwadwo Asamoah one of Ghana’s most gifted footballers. His professional career started with Udinese in 2008; later, in 2012, he transferred to Juventus.

Asamoah played a key role in Juventus’s six straight Serie A titles (2013-2018), excelling in various positions because of his energy, skill, and versatility. Injuries hampered him later in his career, but he still played for Inter Milan and Cagliari.

Asamoah played in four African Cup of Nations tournaments and two international FIFA World Cups for Ghana. In 2010, he won the CAF’s Most Promising African Player award and Ghana Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013. Among the world’s best footballers in 2013, Bloomberg ranked him 27th.
