Spain Davis Cup finals squad includes Nadal

Rafael Nadal will be part of Spain’s squad for the Davis Cup Final Eight in November.
The former number one and three other players have joined world number three Carlos Alcaraz.
Nadal’s last competition was at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he suffered losses in singles and doubles.
Due to fitness concerns, he decided to withdraw from the US Open in August and last weekend’s Laver Cup.
Six-time champions Spain will play against the Netherlands in the quarter-finals starting on 19 November.
Nadal chose not to participate in the US Open, stating he couldn’t give 100%.
In September, he decided to withdraw from the Laver Cup, expressing his belief in the abilities of “other players who can contribute to the team’s success.”
Nadal opted out of the Australian Open due to injury and decided to skip Wimbledon to concentrate on the Olympics.
Before the French Open, he suggested retirement but wasn’t entirely sure if it was his last time at Roland Garros.
The Davis Cup quarter-finals are scheduled for 19-21 November, followed by the semi-finals on consecutive days and the final on Sunday, 24 November.
Jannik Sinner, the reigning world number one, will lead Italy as they attempt to retain the title, a feat that has not been achieved since 2013.
