Ronaldo rejected offers to play in the Club World Cup

Portugal’s captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, announced he won’t be playing in the Club World Cup this month, having rejected offers from participating clubs.
The player, aged 40, will leave Al-Nassr in June when his contract expires.
Following Al-Nassr’s failure to qualify for the Club World Cup in May, Fifa president Gianni Infantino suggested Ronaldo might join a participating team.
Ronaldo stated that he would not be attending the Club World Cup.
“Some teams reached out to me. Some made sense, and others did not, but you can’t try and do everything. You can’t catch every ball.”
Speculation of a move arose after Ronaldo’s social media post in May, stating “the chapter is over,” following Al-Nassr’s last league game.
But, according to sources speaking to BBC Sport, the club is optimistic about renewing Ronaldo’s contract.
Before Portugal’s Nations League final against Spain on Sunday (20:00 BST), Ronaldo said he was nearing a final decision on his future.
The striker’s contract with Manchester United ended, leading him to join Al-Nassr in 2023.
His club career includes 99 goals from 111 appearances, with 35 of those goals coming in 41 matches last season.
Ronaldo’s winning goal in Wednesday’s 2-1 victory against Germany sent Portugal through to the Nations League final.
