Ukrainian 38-year-old Oleksandr Usyk has regained the undefeated heavyweight world championship.
Usyk’s fifth-round TKO victory over 27-year-old Daniel Dubois on July 19th at Wembley Stadium in London improved his record to 24-0 and gave him all four heavyweight belts.
Usyk beat the powerful heavyweight again, almost two years after their first fight. With consecutive wins over Tyson Fury, Usyk’s options for significant fights are dwindling.
The IBF heavyweight champion, Dubois, had just brutally knocked out Anthony Joshua. Unlike Joshua, Usyk was too elusive for Dubois, resulting in Dubois’ record dropping to 22-3.
Usyk dropped to his knees in tears after the fight, his face obscured by his gloves. The crowd of ninety thousand roared its approval for Usyk.
