Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the NFF president, replaces Ghana’s Kurt Okraku as head of CAF West Zone B.
With strong support from member associations, Gusau, NFF’s leader since 2022, assumes the regional position. His appointment will maintain continuity and bring new energy to the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
Kurt Okraku resigned from his position after his unopposed election to the CAF Executive Council and subsequent appointment as CAF’s 2nd Vice President. He couldn’t simultaneously manage his high-level responsibilities and the WAFU B role, so he resigned.
Gusau’s extensive experience, including leading the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, heading the Zamfara Football Association, and serving on CAF committees such as the youth organizing committee, makes him well-suited for this role.
Following Amaju Pinnick, he became the 40th president of the NFF, elected at their 78th congress. His promotion to WAFU B president should strengthen regional cooperation and advance football development throughout West Africa.
