Ghana’s former midfielder, Michael Essien, has obtained a UEFA certificate in football management, highlighting a new accomplishment in his career after retiring from playing.
A former dominant midfielder from clubs like Chelsea and Real Madrid has been striving to achieve coaching credentials and has now acquired a football management certificate.
Essien’s journey to obtaining the UEFA certificate was not easy. It involved months of rigorous training, including online modules and three face-to-face meetings. His excitement upon completing the program was evident in his social media post, where he expressed, “I’ve finally completed my journey to obtain my UEFA certificate in football management.”
Essien is now utilizing his expertise in a new role as a personal talent coach for the Danish Superliga team FC Nordsjaelland. His extensive experience and tactical understanding are proving invaluable in nurturing the potential of young players.
Essien’s remarkable career as a player kicked off at Bastia in France. Then, he moved to Olympique Lyonnais, where his exceptional displays drew the interest of Chelsea in England. During his time at Chelsea, he emerged as one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League, contributing to the club’s success in winning several league titles and a Champions League trophy.
His career continued to soar as he joined top teams such as Real Madrid and AC Milan, confirming his status as a respected midfield player worldwide.
