Ahead of the 2026 MLS season, D.C. United has finalized the acquisition of Romanian international forward Louis Munteanu.
The team has spent a record $10 million ($7m + add-ons) to get the 23-year-old CFR Cluj forward, and he is their third signing this winter.
Following Tai Baribo’s $4 million signing, Munteanu arrives as DCU seeks to replace Christian Benteke, as well as enhance the attacking options of João Peglow, Jacob Murrell, and Hakim Karamoko.
Munteanu had a successful loan spell at Farul Constanța (22 goals in 65 appearances), even though he didn’t break into the senior team at Stadio Artemio Franchi.
After moving to Cluj, he had a stellar 2024/25 season, netting 25 goals in 42 games.
