WORLD CUP 2026: Jordan Ayew downplays Croatia loss, calling it a one-off ahead of Colombia clash

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew downplayed Ghana’s defeat to Croatia, calling it a “one-off” as the team shifts focus to Saturday’s FIFA World Cup Round of 32 match against Colombia.

The Black Stars concluded the group stage with a 2-1 loss to Croatia, but Ayew maintains this result does not reflect the team’s quality as they enter the knockout rounds.

“The Croatia game was a one-off game, so let’s take it like that,” Ayew said.

“But the Colombia game is a knockout game, so it’s going to be totally different.”

Ayew remains confident the Black Stars can recover, noting that a win over Colombia would secure a Round of 16 spot and keep their World Cup hopes alive.

Ayew’s remarks highlight the squad’s determination to move past the Croatia setback and focus on the upcoming challenge.

While acknowledging Colombia’s quality, Ayew emphasized that knockout matches present a new challenge where past results matter little.

The Black Stars will rely on Ayew’s leadership and experience as they aim to overcome Colombia and advance in the World Cup.
