Jordan Ayew, captain of the Ghana national football team, emphasized that the team is entering the 2026 FIFA World Cup with clear goals, not simply to participate.
Ahead of the tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, Ayew stated that the squad is committed to strong performances and meaningful results.
“We are going to the World Cup to give our very best. We want to put on a show and hopefully achieve the results we are aiming for,” he said.
“We are not just going to the USA to make up the numbers.”
Ghana is in Group L with Panama, England, and Croatia. The four-time African champions will play England in Boston, Croatia in Philadelphia, and Panama in Toronto as they seek to reach the knockout stage for the first time since 2010.
Ayew also called for unity and support as the team intensifies preparations, highlighting the importance of maintaining positive energy around the squad.
Ghana will play friendly matches against Germany and Austria, followed by a match against Wales in June, nine days before the World Cup begins.
