The Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup qualifying matches will cost $1.12 million, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation confirmed.
Kofi Adams, the Minister, stated at a media briefing in Accra that the GFA submitted the estimates on September 18, and they were then sent to the President’s Office on September 19 for final approval.
The Central African Republic away game in Casablanca on October 8 cost $733,000, and the Comoros home game in Accra on October 12 cost $387,000.
The budget encompasses travel, housing, living expenses, training sites, referee payments, game incentives, and key assistance. The Minister highlighted that all numbers adhered to the fiscal standards, stating “there has been no deviation.”
He refuted allegations of political influence or setbacks, maintaining players’ benefits were unchanged. “We’ve prioritized the players, treating them with respect,” he stated.
The Minister lauded the GFA’s partnership and restated the government’s dedication to the Black Stars, while also promising accountability, discipline, and proper resource management.
Ghana aims to improve its 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification hopes, facing the Central African Republic on October 8, followed by a home match against Comoros on October 12. The Black Stars require four points from the two games to qualify.
