Ghana faces another setback ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, as Antoine Semenyo has pulled out of the Black Stars squad due to an injury.
3Sports reports that the Manchester City forward is out with a swollen ankle and will miss Ghana’s first qualifier against Côte d’Ivoire.
Semenyo has started the season well and has become an important part of Ghana’s attack. His absence is a major blow for head coach Carlos Queiroz ahead of a tough run of international matches.
His withdrawal adds to Ghana’s injury problems, as Mohammed Kudus and Thomas Partey are also out after leaving the squad.
The Black Stars will start their qualifiers with an away game against Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké, then return home to play The Gambia at Accra Sports Stadium.
These qualifiers matter a lot for Ghana, as they aim to return to the Africa Cup of Nations after missing the last tournament, which ended a long streak of appearances.
