Antoine Semenyo described winning the Premier League Player of the Month award for February 2026 as a “special moment” in his career after an impressive start at Manchester City F.C.
The Ghanaian forward joined City from AFC Bournemouth for £64 million in the January transfer window and quickly made an impact at the Etihad Stadium. His strong performances in February earned him the monthly award and demonstrated his rapid adaptation under manager Pep Guardiola.
Semenyo received the award on Friday after a strong run of form that established him as one of City’s most influential attackers. Speaking to the club’s official website, the 26-year-old expressed pride in the achievement.
“This is a brilliant moment for me. Winning the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I will always remember,” he said.
In February, the Ghana international scored three goals and provided one assist in five league matches, playing a key role in City’s title pursuit. Highlights included goals against Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Fulham F.C., and Leeds United F.C.
Semenyo is the first City player other than Erling Haaland to win the award in over four years.
Despite the recognition, Semenyo emphasized that his focus remains on helping the team succeed in the final stages of the campaign.
“My focus is to keep improving and help the team get the best possible results. There is still a lot to play for,” he added.
By winning the award, Semenyo joins a select group of Ghanaian players to receive this honour, including Tony Yeboah and André Ayew.
Semenyo won the award ahead of strong competition, including Virgil van Dijk and teammate Nico O’Reilly. He credited his smooth transition in Manchester to the support of his teammates and coaching staff.
As the season enters a crucial phase, Semenyo’s form could be vital to City’s pursuit of domestic and European success.
