Paulo Bento has emerged as a leading contender for the Ghana national football team coaching job as the Ghana Football Association steps up its search for a new manager.
The position became vacant after Otto Addo was dismissed following a poor run of results. This leaves Ghana with limited time to prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Reports indicate Bento is interested in the role. The former South Korea and Portugal national team coach is keen on returning to international management. He guided South Korea to the Round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup, earning praise for his tactical organization.
The 54-year-old, who has also managed the United Arab Emirates national football team, is among several candidates under consideration, with Hervé Renard also reportedly in the frame.
With roughly 70 days remaining before the tournament, the GFA is expected to continue evaluating options before naming a new Black Stars head coach.
