President Mahama implored Ghana’s Black Stars to dedicate themselves to the 2026 World Cup, highlighting its significance.
Following a Wednesday afternoon visit to the Accra Sports Stadium, Mahama addressed the team, urging them to give their best and represent Ghana proudly internationally.
He highlighted the immense honor of representing Ghana at the World Cup, stating it’s worth dying for.
“National team pay can’t compare to club salaries,” he explained, “but the national pride and the feeling of getting to the World Cup are priceless.”
The president emphasized discipline, hard work, and unity as crucial values for the players’ success on and off the field.

The Black Stars players, coaches, and officials appreciated Mahama’s support and motivation.
Ghana plays Chad in Accra on March 21st, then Madagascar in Morocco on March 24th, 2025, for Mundial qualifying matches five and six.
For the first time in 20 years, Ghana’s Black Stars missed AFCON qualification; they now seek redemption.
