Thomas Christiansen believes Panama’s upcoming friendly matches against South Africa will help the team prepare for their 2026 FIFA World Cup game against Ghana.
Panama will play South Africa at Moses Mabhida Stadium on March 27, then meet again at Cape Town Stadium on March 31.

During his squad announcement, Christiansen said these matches were set up to reflect the kind of challenge Ghana will bring.
“The aim is to play against an African team because there are similarities with Ghana and what we expect,” he said. “These games allow us to test different tactics, players, and positions.”

He also said these matches are the last chance to make adjustments before choosing the final squad for the tournament.
Panama will start their World Cup campaign against Ghana on June 17 at BMO Field.
