Our football is struggling under Kurt Okraku, says ex-GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi

Kwesi Nyantakyi criticizes Kurt Okraku’s GFA for not raising football standards, particularly for the Black Stars.
Despite Mr. Okraku’s leadership, West African football has underperformed in international competitions.
For the first time, Ghana’s Black Stars failed to win a game in consecutive AFCON group stages (2021 and 2023).
Despite a win in Qatar, Ghana’s World Cup 2022 campaign concluded at the group stage following two defeats.
The Black Stars’ difficulties worsened following their failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco. They ended their AFCON qualifiers winless, finishing last in Group F with only three points and missing the tournament for the first time in 20 years.
In a review of the Black Stars’ performance, former CAF 1st Vice President and FIFA Executive Council member Mr. Nyantakyi criticized Kurt Okraku’s administration for not improving the game.
“Football is like pregnancy, and we can all see that everything is not going well with our game,” he said.
“Kurt Okraku’s administration is not doing well, which is the truth. I don’t know what is wrong, but we can all see that everything is not going well.
“I don’t have much information about what is happening, but In five years, the current GFA has appointed five coaches, which is not a good sign of a performing administration, and that is not good enough, and all these changes have not helped,” he added.
Ghana’s Black Stars aim to elevate their game against Chad and Madagascar in March 2025 during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
