Otto Addo refuses to resign in spite of his dismal performance

Despite the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, Ghana coach Otto Addo has stated he will remain in his position.
Following their elimination from the tournament after a 1-1 draw against Angola on Friday, the 1982 champions were looking to secure a victory over Niger to appease their fans.
The four-time AFCON winners faced a surprising defeat on Monday when their opponents secured a 2-1 victory with a stoppage-time goal at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The loss fueled demands for Otto Addo’s resignation despite his belief in his ability to achieve more with the team.
“I’m not the person who can resign. If I had done this, I’d never have become a player or even a coach,” Addo said during a press conference. “If you know where I have come from as a person to arrive at this job, you won’t even ask about resignation.”
“People shouting and telling me to resign can’t affect me,” he added.
Under the guidance of ex-Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, Sudan has qualified for the continental tournament, eliminating Ghana in the process.
The Black Stars are determined to turn things around and start strong as they begin their journey to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
