Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is confident that Ghana can recover against Germany after their heavy loss to Austria in Vienna.
The Black Stars lost 5-1 in Friday’s friendly. This was the first time Ghana had let in five goals in a match since their 5-0 defeat to Saudi Arabia in 2007.
Before Monday’s match in Stuttgart, Addo admitted the loss to Austria was disappointing. He said the team has spent time reviewing what went wrong.
“We’ve had a lot to look at since Saturday’s defeat, which was a big setback for us. We expected to play well, but after giving up two unnecessary goals in the first half, we lost our shape,” he explained.
Despite the setback, Addo remains hopeful that Ghana can do better against tough opponents.
“We’ve talked about the problems and looked at what happened. Even though we are up against a very strong team, we believe we can manage,” he added.
The matches against Austria and Germany are part of Ghana’s build-up for the 2026 World Cup, where they will play Panama, Croatia, and England in the group stage.
