Man City emerge as Antoine Semenyo’s first choice

Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has stated his preference for Manchester City in the January transfer window.

Driven by a hunger for silverware, the Bournemouth forward is eager to join Pep Guardiola’s squad, showcasing his determination to reach the pinnacle of his career.

Yet, with the January window just days away, Semenyo’s dream move remains in limbo as no deal has been struck.

Chelsea have already ruled themselves out of the running after an initial enquiry, while Manchester United also explored a potential move.

Sources indicate that United never planned to deploy Semenyo as a wing-back, and a January transfer was always considered unlikely given the club’s recruitment priorities.

Tottenham Hotspur previously investigated a deal in the summer, and Liverpool were also reported to have included the 25-year-old on their shortlist, according to The Athletic.

Semenyo has lit up the 2025-26 season for Bournemouth, netting eight goals and providing three assists in just 16 Premier League matches.

His contract at the South Coast Club runs until 2030 and includes a £65 million release clause, which becomes active in January.

This lowered price tag from the summer’s £70 million valuation opens the door for suitors, but also leaves Bournemouth racing against time to find a replacement for their star player.

Since joining Bournemouth from Bristol City in January 2023, Semenyo has made 106 appearances, scoring 30 goals and providing 13 assists.

If Semenyo leaves, he would join a growing list of high-profile departures from Bournemouth, as the club juggles rebuilding ambitions with the demands of financial stability.
