Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has announced his temporary resignation from the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Appiah had to resign from one of his positions before the upcoming AFCON qualifiers in compliance with the CAF’s directive.
Appiah is simultaneously the head coach of the Sudanese national team and a member of the GFA Executive Council.
CAF’s request aims to eliminate any chance of a conflict of interest.
Appiah has temporarily withdrawn from his Executive Council responsibilities until November in response to this directive.
Asante Forkuo, his spokesperson, confirmed that Coach Kwasi Appiah will be taking a temporary leave from his role as an Executive Council member of the GFA until November 2024. The decision was made to prevent any conflict of interest in response to the CAF communication copied on to the GFA. Since the AFCON qualifiers started, Appiah has been absent from all EXCO activities.
Appiah secured a seat on the GFA Executive Council as the representative for Asante Kotoko.
On October 10, at Accra Sports Stadium, a doubleheader against Sudan will begin. On October 14, the return leg will take place in Libya.
