Kofi Adams discusses grassroots football with Asamoah Gyan

Discussions were held between Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams and former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan to bolster grassroots football development in Ghana.

The meeting was in Accra at the minister’s office and focused on finding, supporting, and growing talent in the game’s early stages.

The Sports Ministry sees grassroots development as crucial for creating a national team pipeline.

The courtesy call included Gyan, Ghana’s top scorer, along with his brother Baffour Gyan and manager Samuel Anim Addo.

Adams emphasized the significance of utilising the expertise of former elite players in a post-meeting statement.

“Yesterday, I had the honour of hosting Ghana’s football legend, Asamoah Gyan, a man whose name echoes across continents, not just for goals scored, but for the hope he inspired in a generation,” Adams said.

He added: “Our discussion focused on deepening grassroots sports development and leveraging his wealth of experience across football and philanthropy.”

The minister was also positive about Gyan’s future role in Ghana football.

Adams said, “His strong interest in youth, sports, and community influence is still unparalleled, and we are happy about his potential role in our national plan.”

Gyan, with 51 goals for Ghana, is still a major football icon in the country.

“Asamoah Gyan’s impact continues to evolve, now beyond the field. “We are proud to share this journey with him,” Adams concluded.
