While many coaches pursue four championships over several years, Karim Zito achieved this in just 43 days with Asante Kotoko SC. After departing the club, Zito discussed his successful tenure and new position as Ashanti Gold SC head coach with Akoma FM (87.9 FM).
“Winning four trophies in just 43 days is not easy,” Zito said. “Looking back, I see my time at Kotoko as very successful. It was challenging, but we managed to achieve it.”
Zito emphasized the importance of patience when coaching, explaining that managing a squad requires understanding diverse personalities and abilities. With approximately 30 players, he identified uniting them into an effective team as the main challenge.
He added that success in football is not solely determined by time, and encouraged observers to recognize the challenges coaches encounter.
Now focused on AshGold, Zito aims to lead the Division One team back to the top flight and further establish his reputation as one of Ghana’s leading coaches. Based on his success at Kotoko, AshGold supporters have reason for optimism.
