The Ghana Premier League has seen significant improvement through the collaboration of Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, and the GFA. Following a February 17, 2025, high-level meeting, the two clubs agreed on key measures to boost league standards, safety, and security.
Following a request from the GFA, the meeting focused on the joint petition submitted by the two clubs. The discussions focused on stronger safety measures, more security, and a faster shift to a self-governing league.
Both clubs strongly endorsed the GFA’s improved “Matchday Safety and Security Protocols,” which encompass enhanced crowd control, quicker emergency response, and thorough safety inspections. Both giants pledged strict compliance with the protocols and regular reviews.
The two clubs indicated their readiness to cooperate with the GFA and fellow Premier League clubs to ensure a successful and problem-free league resumption.
Asante Kotoko’s boycott of football continues despite the resumption of the Ghana Premier League this weekend following Nana Pooley’s death and pending justice. As a result, their game versus Eleven Wise is on hold.
Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, will have his first meeting with Asante Kotoko’s management at their office this Thursday following the recent death of supporter Nana Pooley.
