Ex-GFA Veep George Afriyie blamed Ghana’s loss to Sudan on poor planning

Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) George Afriyie blames the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for Sudan on insufficient planning and preparation.
At the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya, Ghana experienced a 2-0 defeat against the Falcons.
The Black Stars’ chances of qualifying for AFCON in Morocco next year are uncertain, as they have only earned two points from four games in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
As Mr. Afriyie stated, the Black Stars’ loss to Sudan is attributed to inadequate planning by the GFA, technical team, and Management Committee.
“I had the opportunity to watch both games, and what cost us was lack of proper planning, and these games, we had to play two games, and I am still struggling to understand why Ghaba might not qualify for a 24-team tournament,” he told Asempa FM.
“It is bad for us, and it is all about lack of proper planning on behalf of the coach, the Black Stars Management Committee, and the Ghana Football Association,” he added.
With two points from four games, Ghana, who are currently in 3rd place, will finish their AFCON qualifiers by facing Niger and Angola.
To secure a spot in the tournament, the Black Stars must win their remaining matches and rely on Sudan’s defeat in their last two games.
