Champions League Final: PSG beat Inter Milan in historic win for first title

PSG won their first Champions League title since the club’s formation by annihilating Italian side Inter Milan 5-0, the biggest margin ever in a Champions League game.

After winning Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France, they sealed a treble by triumphing in the competition’s final dating back to 1956.

PSG dominated the match, securing a historic victory with Achraf Hakimi’s early goal and a brace from 19-year-old Désiré Doué, the first teenager to achieve this feat in a final since Eusébio in 1962; Kvaratskhelia and Senny Mayulu added late goals.

For over a decade, Qatari-owned PSG, in pursuit of the Champions League title, assembled a star-studded team featuring Messi, Neymar, Ibrahimovic, and Mbappé.

Ironically, after abandoning their previous policy of focusing on young players two years ago, PSG won the European Championship this year, their first season without Mbappé, who left for Real Madrid last summer in pursuit of a Champions League victory.

With their win, PSG joins Marseille (1993) as the only two French clubs to have won the European Cup, marking a second European Cup victory for coach Luis Enrique, who previously won with Barcelona in 2015.
