Black Stars to Take on Wales in Historic First Meeting in June

The Ghana national football team, the Black Stars, will play Wales in an international friendly at Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. This will be the first senior meeting between the two teams.

This fixture will be historic as it marks the first time an African national team will play a men’s international match in Wales. The game is part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, for which the Black Stars have already qualified.

Head coach Otto Addo is expected to rely on key players, including Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, Iñaki Williams, and Mohammed Kudus, as Ghana continues its build-up to the tournament in North America.

Ghana has also scheduled warm-up matches against Austria, Germany, and Mexico ahead of the competition, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

At the World Cup, Ghana has been drawn into a challenging group with England, Croatia, and Panama.

The friendly against Wales will give Addo another opportunity to assess his squad and build momentum before the tournament.

Wales, managed by Craig Bellamy, is still seeking qualification through the European play-offs in March. Ticket details will be announced later.
