Black Stars suffer hotel theft ahead of Austria friendly

Ghana’s preparations in Vienna were interrupted when a robbery took place at the team hotel just before their friendly match against Austria, a reliable source said.

The Black Stars started their camp on Sunday and began training on Monday. After their third training session on Wednesday, two players said their Rolex watches, worth about $20,000, had been stolen.

The next day, a member of the technical team found that $2,250 in cash was also missing. Team officials told local authorities, but they could not check the security footage because the hotel said the cameras were not working.

Even after the incident, Ghana will play Austria at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, then travel to Stuttgart to face Germany. Both games are part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
