Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito praised his players for winning the 2025 Toyota Cup and remained optimistic in the upcoming season.
Ghana’s top team played South African powerhouse Kaizer Chiefs in Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium recently.
Kotoko won the trophy on penalties, 3-2, after the game remained scoreless.
The veteran manager praised the team for following the strategy when he spoke to the press.
“I am pleased with the result and also the performance of my players,” Zito said after the game.
“Although the new players weren’t what I hoped for, I gave them tasks and observed,” he said.
Asante Kotoko returned to Ghana on Sunday night and will break camp before reassembling for the GHALCA Top 4 tournament, which will take place from August 20 to 24 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
These games are part of their pre-season schedule for the upcoming 2025/26 domestic season and their CAF Confederation Cup.
