The life patron of Asante Kotoko, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, has been presented with the 2024/25 FA Cup trophy won by the club at Manhyia Palace.
The Porcupine Warriors clinched the championship title with a 2-1 victory over Golden Kick FC in a challenging match on Sunday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
An early goal by Kwame Opoku gave the Reds the lead, only for Bless Ege to equalize with a magnificent free kick, resulting in a 1-1 first-half scoreline.
The game, however, descended into chaos when Kotoko received a penalty in the dying minutes. Karim Zito’s team won their 10th FA Cup, with Opoku’s penalty securing the win.
The team arrived in Kumasi on Monday, June 16, and presented the trophy to Otumfuo today, Wednesday, June 18.
Leading the Kotoko delegation were Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah (IMC Chairman), Kwesi Appiah, and Malik Jabir (technical director).
Otumfuo congratulated the team on their hard-fought win and told them to aim for a strong performance in Africa next season.
